Excursions
Throughout the year, we provide several excursions to places of interest often out of the area, giving the community the chance to experience new adventures, reducing social isolation, and make new friends along the way! The ticket prices are kept competitively low to allow access to all. Recent excursions have included the Creative Crafts Show in Glasgow, the Logan Botanical Gardens, and trips to Gretna and Carlisle for Christmas shopping.
Serving the local community
We currently run a regular once-a-week service to the local food town, Castle Douglas, every Wednesday. This enables local people to visit the many excellent shops and helps support local businesses. It is more than just a shopping trip, though. It is an opportunity for people to get out and about, socialise with friends, and enjoy the journey and the amazing scenery our area has to offer. The bus is driven by local volunteers, for whom we are always in a debt of gratitude.

Membership Hire
We provide vehicle hire to local organisations that register as members for a small annual fee (£30). We can also provide drivers from our pool of PVG-cleared ‘MiDAS’ qualified team. If an organisation wishes to provide its own driver, we can offer the relevant ‘MiDAS’ training (£75 per person). Clients include local schools, Stewartry U3A, Better Livs Partnership, The Food Train, NaturalPower, Castle Douglas Golden Day, and many others.
Patient Transport
We have a small but dedicated team of volunteers who use their own cars to transport patients to hospital appointments, upon referral to the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS). Patients must be from the following postcodes: DG2, DG5, DG6, and DG7. We can provide transport to Dumfries, Stranraer, Ayr, Glasgow, and Edinburgh hospitals. We require a week’s notice, and where possible, we operate this service only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. In all instances, patients must first contact the SAS on 0300 123 1236. We are unable to accept patients that have not been referred by the SAS.
